About Us
Let me tell you how I found out about Gearbox.
During the first week of December 2007, my wife and I went to Hawaii on vacation. Our hotel room was on the beach next to Ft Russey.
I remember looking off the balcony seeing what I thought was tennis courts hidden in the palm trees below.
On Wednesday afternoon, I heard a strange sound coming from the courts. Bam, Bam, Bam. My curiosity got to me. I knew this was not the sound of tennis ball. When I look down I saw what appeared to be 4 guys playing racquetball. I immediately went down to check it out.
What is found were 4 shirtless guys playing outdoor racquetball?
I am from Houston, where we only play indoors. As a matter of face, there are no outdoors courts that I have been able to find in Houston. I briefly talked to one fellow who told me they would be hosting the Black Sand World Racquetball Championships tournament starting Thurs through Sunday.
Man was I curious, but I was on vacation with my non-playing wife. So every time she wanted to take a break from site seeing, I would go down and watch.
Everyone was extremely friendly, I tried everything to get one of them to lend me a racquet and just hit the ball a few time. I understood since they were stetting up or the tournament. One thing that did catch me eye was the event advertisers. Echelon, WOR, and Gearbox. I knew all of these except for Gearbox. I figured they were a local vendor.
On Sat when I went down to watch, I found out that Gearbox was a new racquetball vendor. Gearbox had a setup with all their products displayed. I began talking to the rep and he told me all about Gearbox products and the players who they were sponsoring at the tournament. I did get to touch the racquet, but I did not play with them. I was impressed with all their products especially the GB250.
I was impressed enough to call my office and ask one of my partners to check out Gearbox on line. Several hours later she called back and said that she had found their web site, but not much else.
I have been playing with a Head M170 for about 10 months. When I got back to Houston, I started asking around and found that no one had ever hear of Gearbox. That seemed to be my opening.
I contacted Gearbox and asked for a demo racquet.
Once I got my hands on the GB250, I was sold. My Head MX 170 was retired.
Oh by the way, I also became a dealer.
